About Wayism International Association

About Us

Wayism as a movement was never organized, never had a central organizational management. Wayism existed for millenia as a mindset, a wordlview, a perspective held by devotees and philosophers within and outside of different organized religions. Some of the greatest teachers known to humankind forwarded this Way, but never with the intention to organise or establish a religion--just to open the minds of people to the greater Awareness, the higher Consciousness to which we should strive.

"Elders"

For the past two thousand years, we always had a group of "elders" rom different religio-cultural backgrounds who protected the core teaching from the normal forces at play, the forces that over time warps core teaching for so many differenbt reasons. History tells us that during the 1st century CE the Wayist group of elders was referred to as The Brotherhood of the White Light. They held property in the area of Gilgit where they had an extensive library, a translation school and they employed many scribes who would translate Scriptures and teachings of various spiritual traditions to Sanskrit, the new holy language of the time. They would make copies of books to distribute to the world. The Brotherhood of the White Light, in the 1st century, was chaired by one of its most devoted ambassadors and sponsors, the princess of the small Kingdom of Kullu, now, north of Simla in northern India. Later, with the arrival of Moslem invaders to Srinigar from the 9th century onward, it became increasingly difficult to keep the libraries safe in the outlying area of Gilgit. By the start of the Mughal era, the libraries and school had moved to a new settlement on the banks of Allenanada River not too far from Kullu. Things became difficult to maintain during the Mughal era and again the school moved moved to the mountains of the state of Cochin in the South of India. During the 19th century, when British infatuation with that area became more prominent, the school again moved, this time to Liechtenstein in Europe, and again in recent years the school moved to somewhere in North America from where the Internet era is embraced, teaching is translated to English-language and other. The Internet brings with it new opportunities and new challenges to which the latest group of senior teachers have to rise.

Dissemination and inculturation of ancient teaching

Wayism is not wayism if it is not relevant to the reality of the day. The ancient teaching is not adapted through time, but because of the principle of upaya, is made relevant to the experience of the society in which one lives, whether that be one facing famine or war, rapid change (as in India or China for example) or the severe karmic challenges of a western birth. Ancient teaching that remains ancient teaching quickly becomes irrelevant; Wayism is not like that, it is something to be learned as one experinces life in the here and now. It is not something one learns by supressing human faculties, it is something one learns by living a full life--it is existential personal wisdom that takes a different form as and when one matures in soul age. Every lifetime, the same Wayist teaching as always, is experienced differently.

Today, we face the challenge to make Wayism available in western languages, in a world where mass media perpetuates fake spirituality as much as it advances more helpful spiritualities.

Wayism Association of Wayist Organizations

WAWO for short. Association of Wayist organizations and teachers responsible for keeping the teaching pure, training, licencing and even ordaining practitioners of the healing tradition (now called pneumatherapy), devotees to the bodhisattva path lifestyle and teachers in the tradition.

Wayism W Logo Asset 6@1.5x  The page Wayism Logos has extensive information on this topic.

The ancient logo based on the Koine Greek letter dimunitive (small letter, not capital) omega has been in use since at least the 1st century CE. Tradition says it may be longer, but we cannot show that to be historically correct.
