Question: Is Wayism a religion?
Answer:

There is substantial discussion among academics about the difference between “religion”, “spirituality” and “life philosophy”. Things blur are there are considerable overlaps. Therefore this is not a simple yes-no answer because one needs to know how the questioner means when she asks the question whether Wayist is a religion or not.

The short answer is this.

If a main criteria of religion is that there is a central, authoritative Holy Scripture, then Wayism cannot be a religion.

WAYISM IN PRACTICE

Some Wayists want to worship, enjoy holy rites and observe holy festivals; they make of their Wayism a religion.
Some Wayists do not want a pious aspect, or worship in their lives, they make of their Wayism either a philosophical worldview or a spirituality, or both.
Some Wayists prefer to make of their Wayism simply a worldview through which lenses everything and everyone, life now and hereafter, all makes so much sense.
Irrespective of how one practices, lives, the path Wayists are not divided into categories. We all tend to take some philosophy, a measure of lifestyle and some piousness into our personal mix of Wayism—and we feel free to add and subtract and mix it all up as life goes on, we change, circumstances change, and so on.
